Ann Curry Supports Matt Lauers Sexual Assault Accuser Brooke Nevils

Ann Curry confirmed her toughen for Brooke Nevils after she accused Matt Lauer of sexual assault.

“Brooke Nevils is a reputable young lady of fine persona. She came to NBC News an eager and guileless 20-something, brimming with skill,” Curry, 62, tweeted on Wednesday, October 9. “I believe she is telling the reality. And that breaks my middle.”

Nevils, who worked as former Today co-host Meredith Vieira’s assistant, claimed that Lauer, 61, raped her in his hotel room in Sochi, Russia, in 2014. She detailed the allegations in Ronan Farrow’s upcoming e book, Catch and Kill.

“It was nonconsensual in the sense that I used to be too inebriated to consent,” Nevils, 32, advised Farrow, 31, in the e-book, which can be released on Tuesday, October 15. “It was nonconsensual in that I stated, multiple instances, that I didn’t want to have anal sex.”

Lauer, meanwhile, claimed that their encounter was consensual.

“It began when she got here to my resort room very overdue one evening in Sochi, Russia. We engaged in quite a few sexual acts. We carried out oral intercourse on each other, we had vaginal sex, and we had anal sex. Each act used to be mutual and completely consensual,” the disgraced host wrote in a letter to Variety on Wednesday. “The tale Brooke tells is stuffed with false main points meant most effective to create the impression this used to be an abusive come upon. Nothing might be further from the reality.”

Lauer and Curry co-anchored Today from 2011 to 2012. Curry was visibly emotional when she announced her exit from the morning show amid reports that tension with Lauer performed a task in her departure. She left NBC News after 25 years in January 2015.

Lauer, for his section, was fired in November 2017 after several allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, who introduced his firing live on air on the time, addressed Nevils’ allegations during Wednesday’s broadcast.

“I know it wasn’t easy for our colleague Brooke to return forward then, it’s now not simple now, and we give a boost to her and any girls who have come ahead with claims,” Guthrie said. “It’s just very painful for all folks at NBC and at the Today show. It’s very, very, very tough.”

Kotb published that she and Guthrie “did just a little prayer upstairs” ahead of they began the show.

“You feel like you’ve recognized anyone for 12 years … after which abruptly, a door opens up and it’s a part of them you didn’t know,” Kotb mentioned. “We don’t know the entire details in all of this, but they’re now not allegations of an affair; they’re allegations of against the law. I feel that’s shocking to all people here who’ve sat with Matt for plenty of, a few years. So, I believe we’re gonna just proceed to process this part of this horrific tale.”
