The women of Wisteria Lane are on the brink of say goodbye.
The upcoming eighth season of Desperate Housewives will be its final, ABC showed in a press unlock on Sunday.
As Housewives enthusiasts already know, the ruin prime-time soap debuted back in 2003 with the core cast Teri Hatcher , Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Nicolette Sheridan and Brenda Strong as the titular denizens of drama-plagued Wisteria Lane. (The loss of life of Strong's personality provoked one of the show's first mysteries.)
"Season Eight…will roll out in a way that is accessible even to viewers who may have lapsed in their viewing, and be all the richer and more rewarding for the series' loyal fans," ABC's press free up teased. In the final season, Gaby (Longoria), Susan (Hatcher), Bree (Cross) and Lynette (Huffman) grapple with the cover-up of the murder of Gaby's evil stepdad at the hand of her ex Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira); Susan withdraws whilst Lynette and hubby Tom (Doug Savant) see their marriage fall aside; Bree offers with a new love in Detective Vance (Jonathan Cake); and Renee (Vanessa Williams) units her attractions on an attractive new neighbor (Charles Mesure).

"It is an iconic show. We are so proud of it," Paul Lee, President of ABC Entertainment told Us Weekly on Sunday. "You're gonna see this really cool take that moved me every time I saw it."
He added of the overall season: "I just wanted to make sure that this show that sort of put this network on the map — certainly the new brand of this network for the last six or seven years — had its victory lap. Had a chance to really set out every episode and build an arc for those 22 episodes so that we could say goodbye to this iconic show."
