In case any TV fanatics ignored Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O’Donnell’s explosive on-air battle more than a decade ago, the two former View cohosts are dredging up their outdated drama now.
Hasselbeck and O’Donnell had disagreed over politics throughout the ABC talk show’s tenth season, but their battle became a shouting match in May 2007 when O’Donnell accused the Survivor alum of no longer protecting her in opposition to media pundits who interpreted O’Donnell’s anti-war criticisms as equating the U.S. troops to terrorists.
“Every day since September, I have instructed you that I beef up the troops,” the SMILF actress informed her costar. “I requested you if you believed what the Republican pundits were pronouncing. You said nothing, and that’s cowardly.”
Hasselbeck spoke back: “I simply don’t understand why it’s my fault if people spin words that you just put available in the market or phrases that recommend issues. And I gave you an opportunity two days ago to elucidate the statement that were given you in trouble on all the ones issues.”
After the argument, hypothesis fixed that O’Donnell would go out her authentic run on the display early, even though she was once just a month clear of her previously introduced departure. On her weblog, the Emmy winner perceived to verify the hypothesis in a poem, writing: “It could also be time to be finished / endings r onerous Four all / emotions r high / speaking is hard.”
Two days after the combat, ABC introduced that O’Donnell had asked to be released from her contract. But her first abrupt exit was a long way from the end of her cold war with Hasselbeck.
The Fox & Friends alum ultimately left The View in 2013 however returned just about nine years later as a guest cohost.

Upon Hasselbeck’s go back to the show, O’Donnell unfolded previous wounds and shared her ideas about the new visitor panelist. “I watched it, from yesterday,” the A League of Their Own actress stated in a TikTok video at the time. “And I remembered why I don’t want to watch it together with her anymore. Her little Post-it notes. I don’t know.”
