The 2nd season of Ryan Murphy’s Feud anthology series — titled Capote Vs. The Swans — tells the tale of author Truman Capote’s friendship and eventual falling-out with New York City’s maximum elite staff of ladies, whom he nicknamed The Swans.
Screenwriter Jon Robin Baitz primarily based his display on the e-book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era via Laurence Leamer, which was once released in October 2021.
The Swans include Barbara “Babe” Paley (Naomi Watts), Nancy “Slim” Keith (Diane Lane), C.Z. Guest (Chloë Sevigny) and Lee Radziwill (Calista Flockhart).
“It was once like efficiency art that she put forward into the world,” Watts instructed Entertainment Weekly in January 2024 about her role as Paley. “Everything she considered used to be deliberate — how she plans a cocktail party and who used to be there. Who’s sitting next to every different? Where does the fork pass? What are the fabrics of the napkins? Do the candles odor proper? All of these things that created this kind of large quantity of planning, but nothing was left for herself so regularly.”
