
While Bam Margera made headlines as certainly one of the outrageous cohosts on MTV’s Jackass, he has admittedly struggled over the years.
“It simply turns out like everything at one level came crashing down,” Margera — actual name Brandon Cole Margera — mentioned during an April 2016 appearance on Family Therapy With Dr. Jenn, revealing his struggles with substance abuse. “That’s when it wasn’t even consuming for the a laugh or for the social part of it. It was just consuming because [of] general melancholy, kinda.”
At the time, the former skateboarder famous that the dying of his MTV costar Ryan Dunn was a contributing issue. “[It was] simply the fact of [me] simply being utterly misplaced,” Margera added. “Like, ‘Everything sucks, and the best factor that doesn’t suck is that this bottle of Johnnie Walker.’”
Margera finished several treatment systems over the years, in the long run achieving 12 months of sobriety in May 2022. The next month, he reportedly fled an in-patient remedy facility in Florida after allegedly disliking the program.

Margera got sober in August 2023, two months after meeting now-fiancée Dannii Marie.
