Jimmy Kimmel is sharing some just right news: His 7-year-old son, Billy, underwent his third open-heart surgery over Memorial Day Weekend — and it used to be a success.
“We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and just about as a lot concern and got here out with a brand new valve within a contented, healthy child,” Kimmel, 56, published via Instagram on Monday, May 27.
The late-night host posted a photo of Billy smiling in his hospital mattress and thanked his son’s surgeon, Vaughn Starnes, heart specialist Tim Casarez, nurses and different body of workers at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for their “immeasurable kindness and experience.”

The 2024 Oscar host has detailed his son’s health struggles since McNearney, 46, gave start to Billy in April 2017. Kimmel returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live! the following month with an emotional monologue revealing that Billy have been born with a rare congenital center defect.
Billy’s official prognosis was once “tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia,” which means that his pulmonary valve used to be blocked and there used to be a hollow in his middle. Three hours after Billy was once born, he began to show crimson and docs noticed he had a heart murmur.
“Dr. Vaughn Starnes opened his chest and fixed one of the most two defects in his center. He went in there with a scalpel and did some kind of magic that I couldn’t even start to give an explanation for,” Kimmel mentioned on the time. “He opened the valve, and the operation was a success. It was the longest three hours of my existence.”
