Joey McIntyre Details New Kids on the Blocks New Album Still Kids

Kids will likely be kids, and in the case of New Kids on the Block, they’re “still kids” Forty years when they burst on the boy band scene.

On Tuesday, March 5, the staff — Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and Joey McIntyre — announced Still Kids, their eighth studio album and primary since 2013’s 10. The 14-track LP will arrive on Friday, May 17, and is heralded via the new tune and song video “Kids.” The band may even carry out the track live for the first time during The Kelly Clarkson Show on Friday, March 8.

“Donnie and I pretty much cowrote the entire album,” McIntyre, 51, solely told Us Weekly whilst discussing the new album and his involvement in Drag: The Musical at L.A.’s Bourbon Room. “But this one music, [“Kids”], is from a writer and manufacturer, Dave Stewart, and it’s a great tune.”

McIntyre explained that the new tune is a good encapsulation of the band’s occupation. “It roughly says all of it,” he instructed Us. “We’ve been fortunate, the 5 folks, to never develop up in some ways. And a lot of other folks look to us to return to that satisfied position, and we give permission to them to simply have fun. We’re that getaway and we’re going to beat that drum ceaselessly and ever. And I believe this song [“Kids”] is a new anthem for us.”

Wahlberg, 54, worked as the album’s executive producer and said in a press unlock that Still Kids is “the most mature album we’ve ever made. Yet, it’s the most enjoyable and most album. [Still Kids] is bringing the New Kids and the fanatics full circle. It’s about hope and chances and being ourselves.”

The album options collaborations with DJ Jazzy Jeff (“Get Down”) and Taylor Dayne (“Old School Love”), the former of which can sign up for NKOTB on their Magic Summer 2024 excursion. Paula Abdul can even sign up for the excursion as a unique visitor.

“She’s just the music general package, complete entertainer, in order that’s superb,” McIntyre advised Us of Abdul, 61. “And then we were given DJ Jazzy Jeff kicking it off and getting the party began. [Most] of those presentations this summer are outdoors, and that just has a unique vibe to it. It’s form of that ‘summer fest’ thing and has a unique power. It’s going to be numerous amusing.”

Before McIntyre joins his fellow boy band OGs, he will perform at Hollywood’s Bourbon Room in a limited run of Drag: The Musical. Written by drag celebrity Alaska Thunderf–okay, certified platinum songwriter/producer Tomas Costanza and Ashley Gordon, the show depicts two rival drag bars going head-to-head. Previews start March 15 and 16, with the show opening on March 22. The final performances are on March 29-31, just in time for McIntyre to untuck and get ready to go on the street with the Kids.
