Defying Hollywood’s odds! Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have been married for more than 30 years — and seem to be extra in love than ever.
The twosome first crossed paths when Bacon, who's seven years older than Sedgwick, used to be doing a play within the ‘70s.
“A little bit woman was in there who had simply seen the matinee, and her brother said, ‘You appreciated that actor, go inform him you really liked him,’ and it used to be Kyra,” he recalled on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2014. “She was a bit girl, yeah, she was once 12 years old.”
A decade later, the pair worked together in 1987 on the PBS film Lemon Sky.
“He without a doubt wasn’t my type,” Sedgwick instructed Redbook 2008. “In fact, I vividly take note taking a look at his butt when he walked away once we first met and considering, ‘Well, I guess some girls like that.’”
The Closer actress obviously had a change of heart, marrying the Footloose megastar on September 4, 1988.
“When we first were given together, she was extra the messy one. But after I left house, I used to be an absolute slob. I lived in a pigsty. My first condo used to be a roach-filled disaster,” Bacon advised Glamour in 2019. “Through the years I’ve attempted to get the chaos out of [my home] because my work lifestyles is chaotic. She’s moved in that direction too. I still don’t actually like to make the bed, as a result of we’re going to get in it in some other 12 hours, but she in reality, really likes a made bed. I’ll do it, however she does a bit of bit more of that, and I perform a little extra solving stuff.”
The duo welcomed son Travis in 1989 and daughter Sosie in 1992.
“She’s made a lot more sacrifices than I’ve made. Kyra felt actually strongly that, when she began to have kids, she needed to be there for them,” the actor instructed the mag. “In many instances, on account of the children, she would make decisions careerwise that weren’t the most productive for her profession. We kept staying in New York as a result of we wanted to boost them in New York, but there used to be more work in Los Angeles. Then when The Closer got here alongside [in 2005] — I don’t even take a look at this as a sacrifice — however the youngsters were nonetheless in highschool or junior top and she had this chance to head out to California and to be a lead in a TV show. I said, ‘Listen, I’ll stick with the kids.’”
