Kurtwood Smith says the forged of That ‘70s Show have been ready to pick out up right where they left off in That ‘90s Show (give or take a couple of a long time).
Smith, 80, played Red Forman on the hit sitcom that led to 2006. He reprised his persona for the Netflix derivative, which premiered in January 2023.
Smith spoke with Us Weekly solely at the premiere of the spinoff’s 2d season. He stated bringing back their previous characters used to be “simple” and “fun,” and lauded Laura Prepon (Donna) for her expansion because the show’s original run.

“Laura is directing now as smartly, she directed half of the presentations this year,” Smith said. “It’s an actual excitement to work with her in that scenario and notice how she has evolved and but, acting-wise, it’s [the] same old Donna.”
Prior to That ‘90s Show, Prepon directed 3 episodes of Orange Is the New Black. She also wrote and directed the 2011 TV film Neighbros.
Smith and Debra Jo Rupp superstar in That ‘90s Show as grandparents to Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna’s daughter, Leia (Callie Haverda). Prepon, 44, has a habitual position whilst Grace visitor stars on the derivative. Many characters from the original sequence pop up all over the first season.
“The factor that has made each seasons work so smartly is the fact that we revel in each other’s corporate,” Smith added. “And we now have fun doing it. I feel that this show very much is truly about circle of relatives, you already know, a bigger family.”

Season 1 of That ‘90s Show gained positive evaluations and rose to No. 4 on Netflix’s Top 10 TV English titles. The collection used to be renewed for a 2nd season just one month after it debuted.
To Smith, the speculation to bring That ‘70s Show again in a derivative appeared clever.
