Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, is sparking on-line controversy for discussing the origins of their dating.
“It’s actually how she pulled me, guy. That’s the question,” the Green Bay Packers safety, 28, said on “The Pivot” podcast on Tuesday, December 19, when asked how he landed Biles, 26. The camera temporarily panned to Biles, essentially the most embellished Olympic gymnast of all time, laughing.
Owens explained that the couple, who wed earlier this year, met by means of relationship app Raya in 2020 in a while after he moved to Houston. (Owens had recently signed with the town’s NFL workforce, the Texans, and Biles’ gymnastic health club is positioned within the Lone Star State.)

After the hosts famous that it gave the impression of Biles really did the legwork to “pull” Owens, he agreed.
“I always say that the lads are the catch,” Owens replied. “She did [pull me], although, because I was fighting it. … At the time, I used to be afraid to dedicate. I was like, ‘This is my third year [in the NFL], I’m trying … it’s sort of early, however, you know, it occurs while you least be expecting it.”
As soon as Owens met up with Biles, they instantaneously “take to each other” and “laughed the whole night.”
After two years of courting, Owens proposed in February 2022. They wed in April.
While Owens and Biles have been basking in newlywed bliss, his “The Pivot” feedback divided the Internet. Many of Biles’ fans had been outraged that Owens idea he was more of a “catch” in comparison to Biles given all of her athletic achievements.
“Watching Simone Biles’ husband sabotage her in public just a few months out from the 2024 Summer Olympics is a horrible factor to look,” one X (previously Twitter) person wrote on Friday, December 22. “I would like all of the other people to understand that even though you [don’t] no longer ‘like’ Simone Biles nobody deserves to be treated like that.”
Another added: “I simplest know him as Simone Biles’ husband. Don’t inquire from me nothin’ else.”
A 3rd proclaimed that it was once Biles who used to be the real “catch.”
Biles and Owens also had masses of supporters in their nook. “Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens obviously happy together and they are able to comic story about how they met and to start with were given together,” a fourth person penned on X. “But go away it to overall strangers on here to get irrationally invested and upset over his comments about their relationship.”
The couple doesn’t seem to be letting the social chatter get of their heads.
