Teen Mom's Leah Messer Felt Like a Failure After Jaylan Mobley Split

Leah Messer and Jaylan Mobley called off their engagement lower than two months after the proposal, which left the Teen Mom 2 celebrity reeling.

“It without a doubt took a toll and I felt like a failure however I learned a lot,” Leah, 30, exclusively advised Us Weekly on Monday, August 14. “But reflecting on the relationship or even the breakup, I realized it was truly a blessing in conceal, and I wanted it. I needed to learn to trust my own intuition when something possibly doesn’t feel proper or just isn’t figuring out.”

After twelve months of relationship, Jaylan, 26, popped the question in August 2022. The pair had been engaged for only two months ahead of calling it quits.

“While the last 12 months has been drastically thrilling for either one of us, we’ve learned that it’s highest we stroll separate paths,” the previous couple told Us in a statement in October 2022. “We are so grateful for the lessons, growth, and memories we’ve had in this courting. So lots of you could have watched our love story unfold, and we are hoping that you’ll proceed to observe our tales while we transfer ahead as friends.”

They added: “We will perpetually have love and respect for each and every different, and we ask for privacy as we refocus and transition out of this chapter together.”

While the duo claim to be on good terms following their split, Leah — who stocks twins Ali and Aleeah, 12, with ex-husband Corey Simms, and daughter Adalynn, 9, with ex-husband Jeremy Calvert —  alleged during a July episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter that Jaylan had “duped” her when he proposed through gifting her a fake house deed. She has since put her feelings about Jaylan “up to now” as she tries to “move forward.”

“I took some time for myself to rebuild my confidence and self-esteem after that breakup and that dating as a result of I indubitably took a hit from it,” she instructed Us. “But, overall, I imply, it’s positive [and] we’re in a great place. We’re cordial, we get along, and I feel you’ll see that. You’ll see that within the season.”

Leah’s daughters, meanwhile, had their own bond with Jaylan and have also needed to grieve the breakup. “I feel given the circumstances, in truth, all of the time all the way through our courting, it wasn’t demanding at all,” she mentioned. “So there was nothing really traumatic [about the split]. I mean, at the finish, we simply accept that now not all of us are in a place to pursue a dedicated dating. And that’s OK. … My kids are advantageous with it. I believe in the beginning it was like, ‘OK,’ and then, I imply, we’re effective. We’re happy, we’re healthy, and that’s all that matters.”

The pair’s split was once featured on final season of Teen Mom 2, and can continue to play out on the most recent batch of episodes. For Leah, it’s been tough to rewatch the drama because it airs.

“It was once undoubtedly difficult at first, but I believe we’ve moved ahead and we’re in great places,” Leah instructed Us on Monday. “We both are and, in my case, I’m glad. And we’re simply transferring forward.”

While the MTV personality noted that it’s been “arduous” to get her groove again, she isn’t quite ready to start dating again. “I say that I give everybody the good thing about the doubt until you end up me mistaken. I think my circle is very vital to me — my circle meaning me and my youngsters — so who I permit in, I want to choose wisely about that,” she added. “But we’re growing and we’re studying and we make errors and we keep going.”
